Refund Policy

When a resident has passed away

Refunds for excess: After a resident has passed away at Caring House, the person(s) who made the payments to help cover the costs of the resident’s care will be entitled to a refund to the extent the total amount paid was greater than the number of days the resident stayed at Caring House times $708.43 ($4,959 divided by 7). These rates are effective for admissions on or after April 1, 2021.

  • Example 1: Joan paid $4,959 to help cover the costs of her care from her own funds. She stayed with us for 3 days. 3 days times $708.43 [$2,125.29] is less than the amount [$4,959] paid by Joan. We will refund $2,833.71 in Joan’s name.

  • Example 2: John and his family paid $9,000 to help cover the costs of John’s care. He stayed with us for 16 days. 16 days times $708.43 [$11,334.88] is greater than the amount [$9,000] paid by John and his family. No refund is due.

  •

Refunds to deceased residents: If a resident made the payments to help cover his or her costs of care, the refund is payable in the resident’s name. Be sure to keep the resident’s bank account open and deposit the refund check as soon as it is received.

Other circumstances

If a resident leaves Caring House for a reason other than the death of the resident, a refund could be available depending on the amounts paid to help cover the costs of the resident’s care, the amount of notice given by the resident, and the reason/circumstances for leaving. No refund will be available unless the total amount paid to help cover the costs of the resident’s care was greater than the number of days the resident stayed at Caring House times $708.43 ($4,959 divided by 7).  More details are provided in the Admission Agreement.
