Caring House will be the first of its kind in Southern California. We’re incorporated, we’re recognized by the IRS, we know the licensing rules and we’ve learned from successful facilities elsewhere. Our biggest remaining task is to acquire and renovate a residence to call home.

“When Pat’s Mom was dying with multiple-system failure and could not live at home, Pat found Francis House (a remarkable end-of-life care home on the North side of Syracuse, serving people at the ends of their lives and their families). Later, when Ed’s Dad was dying from lung cancer and the family feared Dad could not continue to stay at home, they had the comfort of knowing that Francis House was there.

There is no home like Francis House here in Southern California. Our community needs one. And, as part of a group of dedicated volunteers, we’re creating one. We call it Caring House.” – Ed and Pat Long, Caring House core group volunteers
